INTERFAITH CENTERING MEDITATION
& BOOK CLUB
We
are hosting these meetings on a
Love-Offering basis. You can join us
anytime! Please do!
Interfaith
Centering Group (approximately 3-3:30pm)
- Centering is an
Interfaith Contemplative Meditation
practice that focuses on the
inner-divine, the God-within.
Derived from the teachings of the
ancient middle eastern desert monks, it
is practiced with profound results by
people of all faiths: Christians,
Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus,
Taoists, New-Age believers, Pagans and
more.
No matter
what spiritual tradition you embrace,
if you are looking for a form of
meditation that focuses on the presence
and action of the God-within and leads to
divine-union, Centering Prayer is a
wonderful and effective practice to
explore!
"Contemplative
Prayer
is not something that can be achieved
through will, but rather is God’s gift.
It is the opening of mind and heart –
one’s whole being – to God.
Contemplative prayer is a process of
interior transformation. It is a
relationship initiated by God and
leading, if one consents, to divine
union."

Book Club
(approximately 2-3pm) -
Our book club has an Interfaith focus on
Spirituality, Mysticism, Meditation &
Contemplative Prayer in various
traditions. Contemplative prayer is
sometimes referred to as “Resting in
God” or simply “Resting in the
Presence”.
Our Book Club is discussing a new book:

"TAO
TE CHING by Lao Tsu".
We will use the 1997edition translated by Gia-Fu Feng & Jane English.
This will be
a wonderful opportunity to explore the
Tao Te Ching with an Ordained Taoist
Priest & Abbott.

GUIDELINES FOR BOOK CLUB & CENTERING
GROUP
We are all working together to
create a very special a sacred
space. So, whether you attend
in-person or via Zoom, we ask you to
agree to follow these Guidelines:
1. Unless you are speaking to the
group, please, keep your microphone
muted, maintain silence and
refrain from eating during the Book
Club or Centering Prayer (unless you
have a medical condition).
2. Turn off your phone ringer, and
do not text, email or read incoming
messages (unless you are an
emergency first-responder).
3. If you are viewing at home via
Zoom, be in a quiet room alone, if
possible, with
no pets or children or people who
are not engaged in the meeting. It would be best to close the
door.
4. Don't leave the room for kitchen
breaks, etc. Of course, a necessary
trip to the bathroom is fine.
5. Keep your microphone and camera
turned on throughout the meeting,
and eliminate music, extraneous
noises and distractions that would
detract from your experience and
that of others.
We ask you to follow these
guidelines so that everyone can have
a deeply sacred, transforming
experience.
Imagine you are in a Spiritual
Temple personally meeting with God.
Centering
Guidelines
1. Choose a sacred word (of one or two
syllables) as the symbol of
your intention to consent to God’s
presence and action within.
2. Sitting comfortably and with eyes closed, settle
briefly and silently introduce the
sacred word as the symbol of your
consent to God’s presence and action
within.
3. When engaged with your thoughts*, return
ever-so-gently to the sacred word.
4. At the end of the prayer period, remain in silence
with eyes closed for a couple of
minutes.
*thoughts
